We would like to send out a BIG BIG THANK YOU to our wonderful artists Anitra Hamilton, Graeme Patterson, and Ed Pien for their participation in this project and our AGO mentors Michelle Jacques, Kelly McKinely, Keri Ryan. Your enthusiasm and endurance was astonishing! Of course we couldn’t have done this project without the support of the Art Gallery of Ontario and all of its staff: security, gallery guides, installation team and communication department, we couldn’t have done it without you! We would also like to extend our gratitude to OCAD University, Aspen Ridge Homes, and Steam Whistle Brewing for their support. We would like to send a special shout out and thank you to Rebecca Duclos for her amazing and quite humbling presentation on Saturday afternoon, what an amazing discussion! Finally, thank you to all of the AGO visitors, friends and family who came out to support the 9 to 5 project, we hope you had a great experience at the “office”.

Over the three days in the 9 to 5 office, some of the artists (ahem Graeme) partook in some office no nos, like “prairie dogging”. According to the urban dictionary prairie dogging occurs when a neighboring office worker peeks over the wall of an office cubicle into another space. Sometimes disruptive, this kind of behavior can give you a bad grade in office etiquette. Of course at the 9 to 5 office we encouraged collaboration and camadarie, it was great to see the artists enjoying themselves! If you’re interested in learning more about cubicle etiquette check out this site.

Hard to believe that it’s already the last day! This is probably the only office in town where you won’t hear “TGIF”. I wonder what the artists have learned from this experience, and from one another?
Guess we’ll have to wait for the project Q&A at the free Art/Work Symposium tomorrow! Click here for all the event info.

I hate to admit it but I am truly enjoying my full-time, “9 to 5″ job at the AGO.
My bosses, Katherine, Mary and Zach treat the 3 of us artists just right. We feel very much appreciated. For instance, this afternoon, on just the second day of our job, we each received a certificate, praising us as employee of the day.
Looking forward to tomorrow’s day at the office. I hope to complete a small paper-cut and some Spectral drawings.
Sadly, tomorrow will be the last of our working day at the AGO…I wonder what kind of retirement package we 3 artists will receive?
Long hours and dedication to the job has finally paid off! At an official staff meeting Graeme, Ed and Anitra were awarded “Employees of the Day” today at the 9 to 5 office.
